Acne Solution > The Number One Myth That
Acne Sufferers Fall Prey To
Acne Products an Acne Solution?
The Number One
Myth to which Acne Sufferers Fall Prey
Maggie Holly
Nine out of ten people fall prey to the myth
that adult acne
is caused by a build-up of dirt and oil in your pores, causing
small infections under the skin.
Wrong!
You
see, the large manufacturers of acne solutions like Clearasil,
Oxy and other acne creams and toners want you to believe
that the cause of acne is really just dirt and oil.
Why? Because that way they can sell you more and more
acne products to clean, scrub, exfoliate, dry-up, moisturize
and cover up acne.
Now
don't get me wrong, their acne products do work for many
acne sufferers. But are they an acne solution? They
only treat the symptoms of what is generally a more serious
problem than just clogged pores.
If the
manufacturers of all of the so-called acne solutions didn't
continue with their perpetual ad campaigns spreading the
myth that acne is caused by oil and dirt, people would solve
their acne problems and stop using their products.
So what
is the root of the acne problem? Well, that's not
a simple question that can be answered with one response,
but let me try. People are different and each person
has different skin with different problems. The root
of acne therefore is different for each person and, rarely,
is the problem caused by just oil and dirt.
On the
contrary — oil and dirt are blamed for a problem that
has its roots much deeper than the skin. There are
two main causes for acne:
Toxins
Toxicity
is becoming more and more of a problem every day due to
chemicals found in processed foods, pollution in the air
and water, heavy metals in fish and our increasing reliance
on prescription and over-the-counter drugs.
As toxins
build up in the body they are generally processed by the
liver and kidneys and are expelled through the bowels, perspiration
and through urination. However, many times, the liver
and kidneys become over-loaded and are simply unable to
expel the toxins, allowing them to build up in the bloodstream.
Ultimately, the toxins are secreted through the skin, which
irritates the pores and causes acne.
In order
to aid the body in its attempt to rid itself of these toxins,
the best solution is to go through a detoxification.
The detox process can last anywhere from a couple of days
to more than a month, depending on the severity of your
case and the type of detox program that you choose.
A detox
program usually includes several components: lots of water,
a simple diet, and some sort of detox product designed to
flush your system. First you'll begin by drinking
tons and tons of water. The toxins will be flushed
out of your kidneys and liver and passed out of your body
mainly through your bowels and urine. So expect to
urinate frequently and even prepare for diarrhea.
The toxins that are flushed out of your system may even
cause flu-like symptoms and headaches for the first few
days. But in the long run, your body will thank
you for the cleansing.
Allergies
The
second most common cause for acne is an allergy to certain
foods. Peanuts, dairy, wheat, and even sugar are just
a few of the foods that are to blame for acne in people
who are allergic. Unfortunately, most people continue
to attack their acne using over the counter creams and toners
rather than identifying the allergy causing the problem
in the first place.
In order
to identify if food allergies are the cause of your acne,
you'll need to simply try eliminating foods from your diet,
one at a time to see if there's a change in your acne.
Generally you'll notice an amazing response within a week
of eliminating a food that's causing your problems.
And in many cases, you also see a dramatic change in other
areas, from increased energy, to more regular bowel movements
and even the ability to think more clearly.
Summary
So consider
whether or not your acne is caused by oil and dirt or whether you've
fallen prey to the number one acne myth. Have you been using
all of the over-the-counter acne solutions just to keep your condition
in-check, ignoring the deeper, root cause of your problem?
